I have now worked in mental health for over 8 years as a mentor and an employment coach.
I have always been interested in psychology, the mind and the brain and have studied a wide variety of practices and techniques in the field of counselling and coaching. The combination of studying psychology and coaching gave me a strong focus on looking for what works and supporting people to find confidence and wellbeing in themselves in their present. Presently I am a therapist with MIND in York and enjoy meeting and helping the wide range of people that come through the door.
I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and I am presently in my final year of a Post Graduate Diploma in Outcome Orientated Psychotherapy. I have a Diploma in Personal Performance Coaching and I am a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming. I am registered as a trainee psychotherapist with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Over the last 3 years I have specialised in a field called ‘The Three Principles’. The principles is an understanding of how we experience ourselves, others and the world around us (and why recognising ‘how’ we experience life really matters). The infinite creative potential of the mind is often surprisingly overlooked in our quest to solve the most pressing problems in our lives and the world around us.
We live our lives as if the better we can make the outside world, the better our experience on the inside will be. But the reality is 180 degrees away. Our moment by moment experience of life is being created from the inside out.’
I have now lived in Yorkshire for over 5 years and I am a very keen hillwalker, mountain biker…and a lapsed rock-climber.
